Plean Tráchta

A thuismitheoirí/chaomhnóirí

Beidh dualgais nua orainn ar fad sna seachtainí atá romhainn, go háirithe maidir le Covid-19 agus sábháilteacht na ndaltaí, na múinteoirí agus gach éinne a thagann i dteangmháil linn agus leo.

Mar chuid de seo ba mhaith linn dul i ngleic le fahdbanna tráchta agus páirceála ar maidin agus um thráthnóna agus chomh maith leis sin, limistéar sábháilte a thabhairt do chách an bóthar a thrasnú ag freastal ar nó ag fágaint na scoile.

Mar sin, féach thíos na moltaí atá leagtha amach againn maidir leis an scoil-bhliain nua agus le bhur dtoil cuir an pleann céanna os comhair aon duine a bhailíonn do pháiste/pháistí ar do shon.

  • Nuair is féidir moltar siúl, rothaíocht nó scútáil ar scoil
  • Más gá tiomáint ar scoil, moltar páirceáil ar Bhóthar Alma, ar Bhóthar Belgrave nó ar Chearnóg Belgrave, mar shampla, nó níos faide fós ón scoil, agus siúl ar scoil an 5-10 nóiméad breise
  • Níl cead páirceáil ar an gcosán ar Phlás Eaton nó ar aon bhóthar le líne bhuí dhúbailte in úsáid
  • Ní bheidh éinne i dtrioblóid de bharr a bheith déanach
  • Beidh an bóthar idir gheata an Rúnaí agus geata na Naíonáin dúnta ar maidin agus um thráthnóna agus is anseo a mholtar do chách an bóthar a thrasnú
  • Moltar mar sea do charranna ag tiomáint i dtreo na scoile an mapa thíos a leanúint

Is athrú suntasach í seo ó thaobh tráchta de go háirithe os comhair na scoile ach is ar mhaithe le sábháilteacht na bpáistí na trialacha seo tar éis cúpla eachtra dainséaracha anuraidh go háirithe.

Ní theastaíonn timpist ó aon duine.

Mairfidh na treoireacha seo i rith an gnáth lá scoile (e.g. 8.20-14.30) agus tá sé rí-thábhachtach go gcloífeadh gach ball de phoball na scoile leis an treoir seo.

Chun an pleann a chuir i bhfeidhim agus an trácht a choimeád ag bogadh, bheadh sé áiseach cúpla tuismitheoir a bheith againn mar mhaoir chun cabhrú linn an bóthar a choimeád dúnta agus sábháilteacht a chinntiú dos na páistí. Téir i dteangmháil le Cumann na dTuismitheoirí ag jenstaun@gmail.com más féidir leat cúnamh a thabhairt.

Oibríonn polasaithe neamh-fhoirmeálta tráchta mar seo i scoileanna eile sa cheantar agus i ndeireadh an lae, is ar mhaithe leis na daltaí a fhreastalaíonn ar Scoil Lorcáin agus a gcuid sábháilteachta na moltaí nua seo.

Iarraimid oraibh anois an pleann thuas a léamh agus an mapa thíos a thuiscint agus a chinnitú go bhfuil an t-eolas seo ag seantuistí, seirbhís chúram pháistí a bhailíonn ón scoil agus aon duine eile a bhailíonn ar do shon.

Go raibh maith agaibh ar fad as bhur gcabhair.

Dear parents/guardians

As we all know, there will be additional obligations on us all over the coming weeks and months due to Covid-19 but all with a view to creating as healthy and as safe an environment as possible for our students, teachers and all those that come into contact with them and us.

As part of this wider policy we would like to examine measures to address the traffic and parking issues we’ve been having over many years now in and around the school in the morning and in the afternoon. In particular we are examining a one-way traffic system and a safe-crossing area directly in front of the school.

As a result please see the recommendations below which can only succeed if we have the cooperation of parents, guardians, grandparents and minders, so please pass on accordingly:

  • When possible everyone is encouraged to walk, to cycle or to use a scooter when coming to and from school
  • If you are driving you are encouraged to park some distance from the school, for example on Alma Road, Belgrave Road or Belgrave Square, and then to walk the last 5-10 minutes
  • No student will be in trouble for being late
  • Parking on the paths at Eaton Place/Terrace and on any road with a double yellow line is discouraged strongly
  • The road between the Rúnaí’s gate and the Naíonáin’s gate will be closed off to traffic and will be used as a safe-crossing area for students walking, cycling or on scooters
  • Those using cars in the morning and wishing to drop off at or near the school are advised to follow the one-way system as detailed in the map attached

These are significant changes to how we drop and collect our children however having had a number of near misses, last year in particular, it is with their safety in mind.

Nobody wants an accident and we hope that a safe-crossing area will help in that regard.

The recommendations will apply essentially during school hours e.g 8.20-14.30 and apply to all those coming to and from the school to drop and collect their child/children and it is vital for these recommendations to work that everyone follows them.

In order to implement these changes successfully we need your cooperation and also we would ask any parent happy to help us steward the roads during the trial period to get in touch with Cumann na dTuismitheoirí at jenstaun@gmail.com.

Similar informal systems work very well in many schools in the area like Holypark and this is all with a view to making Scoil Lorcáin as safe as possible for those most important to us all.

Finally, again please familiarise yourselves with the new lay-out and the map above and inform those tasked with dropping and collecting your child/children of same.

Thanks in advance,
