Ba mhaith linn buíochas a ghabháil le Coiste na dTuismitheoirí as airgeadú a dhéanamh ar na scáileáin nua a bheidh sna seomraí athchóiirithe nuair a bheidh siad réidh. Chosnaíodar breis is €33,000.
Thanks to the Coiste na dTuismitheoirí for funding to the tune of €33,000 plus, the purchase of new interactive screens for the re-furbished rooms, which we hope will be ready some time in February.
Cruinniú Cinn Bhliana
Beidh CCB Choiste na dTuismitheoirí ag 8.00 in ar an gCeadaoin 2 Márta 2016. Tá fáilte roimh thuismitheoirí agus chaomhnóirí pháistí na scoile. Cuirfear breis eolais amach roimh réidh.
Coiste na dTuismitheoirí will have their AGM Wednesday 2nd March 8 pm in the school. All parents/guardians are welcome. Further information will be disseminated closer to the date.

Beidh an scoil ag oscailt Déardaoin 1 Meán Fómhair 2016 tar éis Saoire an tSamhraidh.
School will re-open Thursday 1st September 2016 after the summer holidays.

Fo-choiste Chomóradh 1916
Tá imeachtaí á n-eagrú againn do Chomóradh 1916. Beidh imeachtaí á n-eagrú do na daltaí , go speisialta sa tseachtain 22 – 26 Feabhra. Beidh a lán cuairteoirí ag tabhairt cuairte orthu sna ranganna. Tá ócáid mhór phoiblí á reachtáil againn do phobal Gaelach Chontae Dhún Laoghaire Ráth an Dúin, an t-aon ócáid Gaeilge sa chontae mar chuid den chomóradh. Déardaoin 3 Márta beidh gaolta le daoine a bhí ‘amuigh’ 1916 ar baill de phobal Scoil Lorcáin iad ag caint faoina ngaolta i Halla na Scoile. I measc na ndaoine a mbeidh trácht orthu beidh Séan Mac Diarmada, Muintir Brugha agus An Rathailleaach. Beidh fáiltiú óna 6.00 in agus tosóidh an chaint ar 7.00 in. Seolfaimid abhaile breis eolais níos gaire don am, ach bheimís buíoch ach an scéal a scaipeadh ar aon duine a mbeadh suim acu ina leithéid.
We are organising events to mark the 1916 Commemoration. Events for the children in school will be focussed on the week of 22nd – 26th February. We are also organising a major public event on the evening of Thursday March 3rd. Seven members of the school community who are related to volunteers who were active in 1916 will speak about these relations. A question and answer forum will also form part of the evening. The presentations will be in Irish and the ‘q and a’ bilingual. This is the only Irish language event in the county, as far as we know, as part of the 1916 Commemorations. We’d love the event to be well supported, to show that there is a market for Irish language events in the county.
Focus Ireland
Bhailíomar €695 do Focus Ireland roimh an Nollaig. Míle buíochas libh go léir.
We collected €695 for Focus Ireland when the children wore their own clothes on the Monday before the Christmas break. Thanks to all of you.

Tá cead ag páiste fágáil go luath má tá cead tugtha ag an tuismitheoir. Muna bhfuil an tuismitheoir ag teacht chuig doras an tseomra ranga, caithfidh an cead a bheith i scríbhinn. Má thagann duine seachas an tuismitheoir chun an páiste a bhailiú luath, caithfidh an tuismitheoir cead a thabhairt i scríbhinn. Moltar go mbaileofaí an páiste ón seomra ranga suas go dtí Rang 3. Go raibh maith agaibh as bhur gcabhair leis seo.
Children may leave the school early if they have a note from a parent or if the parent comes to the classroom door. If some one other than a parent comes – even an older sibling – they should have a note from the parent. Children up to Rang 3 should be collected from the class rather than being told to meet somewhere. Thank you for your co-operation in this.

Tá na ranganna 1-6 anois ag baint taitneamh as na léirmheasanna físe a rinne na páistí ar na leabhair a léadar i rith na Nollag. Maith sibh, le gach duine a ghlac páirt.
The children are now enjoying watching the book reviews sent in on video for books read during the Christmas break. Well done to all who took part.

An dtiocfadh le tuistí leath-úlla a thabhairt do pháistí nach n-itheann úll iomlán. Bíonn an bosca múirín lán le húlla iomlána ag Briseadh na dTorthaí. Is cur amú bí is airgid é.
Could parents of younger children give their child half an apple if appropriate. The compost boxes are full of apples with a bite or two taken out of them.
Comórtas Fichille
Beidh comórtaisí fichille á n-eagrú sna ranganna 2-6 sna seachtainí amach romhainn. Imeoidh beirt as gach rang ar aghaidh chuig Comórtas Scoile ansin. Roghnófar cúigear as an gComórtas sin chun a bheith ar Fhoireann Fichille Scoil Lorcáin chun páirt a ghlacadh i gComórtas Fichille na nGaelscoileanna.
Chess competitions will be organised in Rang 2-6 in the coming weeks. Two champions from each class wil proceed to the school competition. 5 players will be be selected to represent the school at the annual competition for gaelscoileanna. Thanks to our own Chess Master Donnchadh Mac Aogáin for organising this.
